THE RULES

This Iron Chef party was inspired by the TV show Iron Chef. However, the rules were modified substantially so that everyone could be chef, judge, and spectator.

The party attendees were divided into four teams, each named after an Iron Chef. The teams were selected randomly by the drawing of lots (labeled chopsticks). Each team was given a different ingredient (the most controversial deviation from the show's rules), and 45 minutes within which to prepare two dishes. At the end of the 45 minutes, the food was served to everyone.

This party was "open book" - several recipe books were made available for research purposes. However, time spent reading the books counted as cooking time.

The teams were scored based on four categories, in each of which they could receive zero to five points. The categories were as shown below:
