The Great Wall is kind of hard to believe, even in person. To us it felt like it was designed to be beautiful first, and functional second.
In the lower left of this picture, you can see the beer donkey (on the outside of the wall next to the vendor's yellow umbrella).
There was a surprising variety of animal life to be found at the wall. In addition to the donkey, and to bunnies on display at the base (not pictured), there were lizards:
And a camel. The camel owner was extremely nice, and for about $1 let Cielo stare at, pet, and feed the camel. Hours later (and now, weeks later), she is still talking about how the camel ate leaves and grass, and how Cielo held the food!
