The Summer Palace was one of the only places where we saw wildlife in Beijing or Shanghai other than birds. Here's a striped chipmunk (on the left, in the middle).
Like everything in China, the Summer Palace is under constant renovation. There was a large group of gardeners working on putting sod down in part of the grounds.
